May 1, 2010 - Annual Hog Fest
- Professional Barbeque Cook-Off, Back-Yard Barbecue Cook-Off, Arts & Crafts Show and Sale, Sanctioned Lawn Mower Races at American Legion: Post 40, Edenton, NC. The evening will be a ticketed event. For more information call (252)482-4057.


May 2 – 26, 2010 - Annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show
- Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Roanoke Island Art Gallery. The Dare County Arts Council produces this annual show honoring Arts Council founder and lifetime supporter of the arts, Mollie Fearing. The show features local paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, stained glass and more! Some of the works will be offered for sale. The show is free and open to the public. May 7 - 9, 2010 - Shag OBX
- At the Pirate's Cove Pavillion on the waterfront, Manteo, NC. Live Music featuring Jim Quick and Coastline. Dance Lessons with Sam and Lisa West. All proceeds benefit the Community Care Clinic of Dare. For more information call (252) 261-3689.


May 8, 2010 - Pet-a-Palooza

May 14 - 17, 2010 - Hang Gliding Specacular Week
- Throughout the Outer Banks! Celebrate in the area where flight began. Jockey’s Ridge State Park & Jockey’s Ridge Crossing, Nags Head. Hang gliding professionals from all over the world come to compete and have fun on Jockey’s Ridge State Park. - The Outer Banks Arboretum and Teaching Gardens, located adjacent to The Thomas A. Baum Senior Center, Mustian Street, Kill Devil Hills. 10 a.m. Features vendors, demonstrations, plant sales, children’s activities, food and much more! May 22, 2010 - Youth Aviation Day

May 28 – August 20, 2010 - The Lost Colony Outdoor Symphonic Drama
- 8 pm showtime. “The Lost Colony” is America’s first and longest running outdoor symphonic drama, telling the story of Sir Walter Raleigh’s attempts to colonize English America from 1584 – 1590. The Lost Colony is America’s first great historical mystery and includes the story of Virginia Dare, first English child born in America. For more info call (252) 473-3414.
