February 27 - March 29, 2010 - Priceless Pieces Quilt Show - The Art Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday - Friday) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Saturday). The annual show will feature approximately 80 new and old quilts and an Earth Speaks mini-quilt display. Free. Each year the group creates mini quilts to express their theme. These hang in the hallway, which is the entranceway to the main gallery where traditionally eighty or more big quilts are displayed. The quilts hail from the Outer Banks and Eastern North Carolina. March 11 - 14, 2010 - Taste of the Beach - In March, The Dare County Restaurant Association and Accommodations Industry come together to present TASTE OF THE BEACH, a four day culinary festival, celebrating original Outer Banks restaurants and the best of the islands. A variety of restaurants will host exclusive dinners offering special menus with wine pairing ideas, feature guest chefs, brewery tours, cooking classes. There's a weekend full of tasty food and fun waiting to be devoured.
March 13, 2010 - Outer Banks Chowder Cook Off - 12:00pm - 3:00pm at the Coastal Provisions Market, One Ocean Blvd., Southern Shores, NC. Price: $20 per person, advance tickets available for purchase. Limited Availability. Come taste and judge for yourself which chowder, from dozens of the Outer Banks best restaurants in attendance, should earn the title "The Best Chowder in the OBX." Enjoy taking the chill off a beautiful OBX Spring Day with hot soup, cold beer, music, great company and more. March 14, 2010 - St. Patrick's Day Parade - Nags Head, NC. Parade starts at 1pm at MP 11.5 on Va Dare Trail/Beach Road. For information, application, etc contact Kelly's Outer Banks Restaurant at (252) 441-4116.
March 14, 2010 - Currituck Annual Art Extravaganza - Paintings, handmade pottery, carvings, photography, stained glass, and other works of art will be featured at the Currituck County Arts Council’s Annual Art Extravaganza. The event will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., at Currituck County High School 4203 Caratoke Hwy., Barco. Artists from Currituck and the surrounding areas will display and/or sell their work.
Featured artist will be Nancy Zittrain, a well-known painter from the Outer Banks. Ms. Zittrain exhibits her are throughout northeast North Carolina and Virginia. For more information call (252) 232-2634.
March 20, 2010 - Pet-A Palooza - Pet-A Palooza Pet and Pedal Parade and Dog Day Out. Registration begins at 10 am, Parade is at 11 am and the Festival will un until 2 pm.Ride your bike, Bring your pet, Wear your green! Free, 10 am - 2 pm, from South Broad Street to Colonial Park.
