February 26, 2010 - Freedmen's Colony Blues Jam - 4th Annual Roanoke Island Freedmen's Colony Celebration. Held at the Film Theatre at Roanoke Island Festival Park. The weekend will include a blues concert, play and more. For more info. call (252) 475-1500.
February 27, 2010 - Annual Polar Plunge - To benefit Chowan County North Carolina Special Olympics. Take a dip into the frigid, icy waters of the Albemarle Sound and warm your heart knowing you’ve raised funds to support sports training and competitions for the thousands of Special Olympics athletes in your area. 11 am

February 27 - March 29, 2010 - Priceless Pieces Quilt Show - The Art Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday - Friday) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Saturday). The annual show will feature approximately 80 new and old quilts and an Earth Speaks mini-quilt display. Free. Each year the group creates mini quilts to express their theme. These hang in the hallway, which is the entranceway to the main gallery where traditionally eighty or more big quilts are displayed. The quilts hail from the Outer Banks and Eastern North Carolina.
